How to Go to Asiatique in Bangkok

Asiatique is well worth a visit (or three), but getting there can feel a little bit tricky. It’s unfortunately not located within walking distance of any of the BTS or MRT stations, so you can’t take a train directly there. No matter where you are in Bangkok, though, this post will help you figure out how to go to Asiatique!

Option 1: Take the Train and Boat (Our Preferred Method!)

Step 1. Take the BTS system to the Saphan Taksin BTS station on the Bang Wa <> National Stadium line. (Alternatively, if you’re somewhere on the river in Bangkok, take one of the ferries to the docks at this station.)

Step 2. Proceed from the station to the boarding pier for the free Asiatique ferry. Once you exit the station and go downstairs, head straight toward the river. You’ll see an overwhelming number of little piers and signs for various boats. Ignore all these; once you’re on the walkway bordering the river, turn left and walk all the way to the end.

Yes, all the way. There’s a point where it looks a bit like you’re maybe not supposed to go further because of desks and lines for other boats, but just keep going past this. (If you look closely, you’ll see signs for the Asiatique ferry along the way.)

Once you’re at the end, you should see a line for the Asiatique ferry.

Step 3. Join the line, wait for the ferry, and hop on! This ferry only goes back and forth between Asiatique and Saphan Taksin, so you don’t need to worry about whether you’ll know when you’re at the right stop. Once it docks, you’re at Asiatique.

Option 2: Take a Taxi (Slower, More Expensive)

This is perhaps the simplest of all options: hail a taxi (or grab a Grab) and ask the driver to take you to Asiatique.

The downsides: you’re likely to get stuck in traffic, it costs money, and you won’t get to enjoy the free scenic ride and views along the Chao Phraya river. On the bright side, though, you get to just relax in the car for however long it takes to get there, without needing to worry about figuring anything out.

Option 3: Travel by Bus

We don’t recommend this option. It’s hard to offer specific directions because which bus you take and where you transfer depends on where in Bangkok you are.

If you do choose to take the bus, you’ll need to find a way to transfer to line 1, 15, 17, 75, 504, or 547. All of these stop at Asiatique, where the full station name is Asiatique the Riverfront. To figure out how to get from where you are to one of these lines (and therefore to Asiatique), check out Transit Bangkok’s site.
