Top 6 Things to Do in Asiatique Bangkok

Things to do in Asiatique, Bangkok

We usually like to avoid touristy places, but Bangkok’s Asiatique the Riverfront somehow keeps pulling us back. Maybe it’s the good food, the boat ride to get there, or the abundance of shopping, but somehow we can’t resist even though it’s often packed with people. In no particular order, here are our top 6 things to do in Asiatique in Bangkok!

Don’t miss our Complete Guide to Asiatique the Riverfront and our post on How to Go to Asiatique in Bangkok!

1. See a Show

Asiatique is home to several shows. Whether you want to watch Thai classical dancing, the country’s famous “ladyboys,” a puppet show, or a Muay Thai exhibition, Asiatique has an option for you! For more details, including a complete price list, head to the “Shows” section of our Complete Guide to Asiatique.

One of the many things to do in Asiatique, Bangkok, is to have a fish pedicure.

2. Get Your Feet Nibbled by Fish

Have you ever had a fish pedicure? If not, you’re in for… well, I’m not sure you can call it a treat, but definitely an experience. You’re expected to sit calmly with perfect poise as a plethora of tiny fish nibble at your feet (don’t worry, they don’t have teeth!). You’ll get odd looks if you start giggling because it tickles. Trust me, I know. After it’s over, though, your feet feel incredibly rejuvenated. If you’ve never done it before, Dr. Fish in Asiatique may be the perfect opportunity.

After walking around in the heat, one of the best things to do in Asiatique, Bangkok, is to try a blended coconut smoothie.

3. Eat Everything You Can Find (BONUS: Drink a Blended Coconut Smoothie)

Once your ferry lands in Asiatique, you’ll find yourself in front of an array of nice-looking restaurants. Unless you have your heart set on their views or style, we recommend skipping these and eating at the more casual places in the heart of Asiatique. (Most of these waterfront restaurants are in what we consider the “mediocre middle.”)

As you walk around eating in the heat, you’re bound to get thirsty. It took us way too many visits to Thailand to discover blended coconut smoothies. Don’t make the same mistake; try one as soon as you can. They’re available at most of the stalls you’ll see selling coconut water.

Riding the 60-meter-tall Ferris wheel is a great activity at Asiatique in Bangkok!

4. Ride the Ferris Wheel

Thailand’s tallest Ferris wheel dominates the sky above Asiatique. At 60 meters (around 200 feet) high, it’s definitely worth a ride to see Bangkok’s skyline from a whole new perspective! We recommend timing your ride so that you’ll be in the air during sunset, when the city is particularly beautiful from this vantage point.

Shopping is one of the most popuplar things to do in Asiatique, Bangkok.

5. Do All Your Souvenir Shopping

Most of Asiatique’s shops are geared toward tourists, but that doesn’t mean you won’t stumble across some fantastic finds! If you want some distinctly Thai-looking treasures to bring home with you for your home or your friends and family, Asiatique may be the ideal shopping destination.

Photography is just one of the many things to do in Asiatique, Bangkok.

6. Take in the Views (& Practice Your Photography)

Asiatique is full of beautiful views, from the expanse of the Chao Phraya river running past Bangkok’s skyscrapers to the intricate details on the carousel. It’s an ideal place to pull out your camera and practice your photography, with subjects ranging from a dramatic sunset behind a bridge over the river to the luminously delighted face of a child admiring the fairy lights.
